Recognising and responding to coercive control workshops

Coercive control is one of the most damaging—yet least recognised—forms of abuse. It thrives in silence, often hidden behind everyday interactions, and its impact can be devastating for individuals, teams, and communities. It erodes confidence, undermines safety, and even rewires the brain, leaving lasting effects long before more visible signs of harm appear.

At Robust Leaders, we have designed a program that goes beyond awareness to provide participants with the knowledge, skills, and strategies needed to recognise, respond, and prevent coercive control. Our approach blends neuroscience, psychology, and practical workplace strategies to ensure real-world application.

Participants will learn to spot red flags—whether as teachers, leaders, managers, or peers—and gain a deeper understanding of the neuroscience of coercion and trauma, helping them see why early intervention matters. We provide practical tools that move beyond “just sending someone to counselling,” equipping individuals and organisations to take safe, supportive, and proactive steps. Our workshops also focus on building cultures of safety and trust—vital for schools, businesses, and community groups aiming to create environments where people can thrive.

The program is tailored to meet different needs. In schools, we work with teachers, leadership teams, and age-appropriate student groups. In workplaces, we offer training for leaders, managers, and employees at all levels. Whether delivered as a 2-hour awareness session, a half-day interactive workshop, or a full-day comprehensive program including policy review, each package is designed to create meaningful change and empower participants to make a difference.

The result? Safer, healthier, and more resilient schools, workplaces, and communities—equipped with the tools to notice, respond, and prevent coercive control before it escalates.

2-Hour Awareness Session
A focused introduction ideal for staff meetings, student groups, or “lunch and learn” sessions. This session covers what coercive control is, how to recognise early red flags, the neuroscience of coercion and trauma, and practical quick-response strategies. It equips participants with foundational awareness and referral pathways.

Half-Day Workshop
An interactive program designed for leadership teams, teaching staff, or corporate groups. Building on the awareness session, it adds case studies, scenario-based learning, and role-play exercises. Participants practice recognising and responding to coercive control, with group discussions that translate insights into practical strategies for their own environment.

Full-Day Training
A comprehensive, systemic approach for schools or businesses seeking long-term cultural change. This full-day program combines awareness and neuroscience education with applied practice and a review of policies and protocols. It ensures participants not only understand coercive control but are also equipped to create safe, supportive structures across their organisation.
